Ever since I first seen the new mods coming out with the fancy DNA200 chip I really wanted one, to me it seemed like the one master mod that could delivery all the needs of an experienced vaper and at the same time serve it"s purpose for an average vaper right from the first days into vaping all the way up to the point of becoming a well experienced vaper. But who can afford the cost we see on these fancy mods, not everyone. To my surprise it did not take long for the price issue to no longer be an Issue when Reuleaux released their RX200.
The Reuleaux RX200 may be so far one of the nicest vapes I have yet to use I will say this right of the start as I have not put it down since it showed up this morning. That"s right I"ve started writing this review already as I am damn sure this will be one of the best vape devices I have acquired so far in my vaping experience. So far I"m loving the feel of it but as with any new vape device I get I will be surely putting it through it"s paces over the next 48 hours and then some!
When I first unboxed my Reuleaux RX200 I was really drawn in by the shape and size of this mod but to be honest at first I was a little hesitant on the color scheme. The shape of the RX200 is definitely not like any mods produced by other manufacturers as it is somewhat hexagonal in shape but sits in the palm of my hand just perfect with barely a change in finger placement to operate any of it"s 3 buttons, one larger fire button featuring the "Jay-Bo" logo above the OLED screen and 2 smaller adjustment buttons under the screen. The RX200 is 88mm in height, roughly 40mm in width and 50mm is depth so overall dimensions still places this smaller than the average box mod. Another quick note on appearances with the RX200 is the ventilation holes and how well they have been placed to flow with the shape, not to mention more than just ventilation on the bottom there are 3 small vent holes on each side to release heat from use and heavy operation!
As for the color there are two options available so far, Black and white. The Black unit is all black, sleek and smooth. The white though is not just white, it has a teal green on the front plate and the battery cover and this teal green is what at first I was not to fond of but the more I look at it the more I think it kind of suits the Reuleaux RX200. I usually like my mods in Black, White, or black and white for that stormtrooper look but this RX200 and it"s white and teal green perhaps is showing me that it does not always have to be about the Black and White. So for now, I feel I like it and it"s growing on me.
On the very top of the Reuleaux RX200 there is a small symbol fairly reminiscent of the old Mazda rotary motor symbol. It is kind of a triangle but semi rounded sides rather than straight with three circles inside of it. This symbol on the RX200 is Reuleaux"s Emblem reminding you there are three 18650"s inside this compact little unit and it houses them well. When you pop off the magnetically held battery cover you see where the batteries go and that the two that sit farthest in both sit the same way, negative side up and positive side down leaving the spot for the third battery which sits positive side up negative side down. For some newer vapers this might sound odd or even look odd but now worries as the Reuleaux RX200 has reverse polarity protection which means if you accidentally happen to put a battery in the wrong way it is not going to mess up your mod. The RX200 does have USB charging capability and some people prefer to use that over the alternative of removing the batteries each time they are charged. I myself am a classic believer that nothing charges better than a purpose built charger so for me I will be removing the batteries for charging instead of using the built in charge feature. I also want to add there is a feature which will recognize an imbalanced cell on the RX200 if any of the three cells have a variance of 0.3 volts so make sure you keep them batteries even and paired!
The Nice sized OLED display is clear and bright, easy to read and provides all the necessary information needed to keep an eye on what your vape is doing. The largest digits you see when in Wattage/power mode are of course, the watts you have your vape set to and with the build I"m running I find myself in around the 70 watt range unless I really want to kick up some clouds then I get up past 100 watts but with my particular build I can do that, more about that later. To the side you get your resistance readout in smaller font and that is forgive me if I say this wrong but 2 places past the decimal point, for example "0.16" as opposed to some which may round that up to a "0.2". We also get a Voltage readout for the set wattage which I find to be VERY helpful in reference for where I like to set my vapes to. I normally end up between 3.5 volts and 4.1 volts and prefer to be able to know this when setting up a new vape. Lastly for the OLED display is the battery life indicator which is the smallest thing on the screen but that is ok because you still get a great indication of where your remaining battery life is at.
As many of our readers may already know, The Reuleaux RX200 features Temperature Control Modes for Nickel, Titanium and Stainless steel wire and coils as well as the standard Kanthal wire and coils. This is my first vape device that has the ability to run Stainless wire so I am rather looking quite forward to giving that a try as I have already heard some pretty good things about it. Accessing the various temperature control modes is very easy and can be easily done by just clicking the button three times and the mode will change. This is different and far simpler than any temperature control mod that I own which usually takes 3 clicks of the fire button just to access the change option in the menu. With the RX200 changes modes has been made a breeze. When in temperature control modes the RX200 can be set from 100 to 315 degree Celsius or 200 to 600 degree Fahrenheit and this is in all three modes Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel. As well the RX200 also features a resistance locking mode and when applied should be done with your atomizer at room temperature to ensure an accurate reading.
One other very important thing I look at when checking out a new vape device like the Reuleaux RX200 is how low it can fire in wattage mode and it"s various temperature control modes. Here is what we are looking at with the RX200 is respect to "how low can she go?". In wattage mode the RX200 can fire down to a 0.1 ohm build/coil and in all Temperature control modes it fires down to a 0.05 ohm build, any lower than that and the screen will tell you "atomizer low". There is also a full range of other warnings the screen will display which I will include in the specifications below.
Specifications:
- 84mm x 50mm x 40mm
- Triple 18650 battery power
- output modes of TC-Ni, TC-Ti, TC-SS and VW power
- wattage range 1w to 200 watts
- Temperature range of 100-300°C or 200-600°F
- Resistance range of 0.05-1.5 ohm for TC modes and 0.1-3.5 ohm for VW mode
- 0.69" OLED Screen
- "Jay-Bo" logo on fire button
- Magnetic battery door
- Upgradeable firmware
For my first build I decided to go with something a little larger than a standard build as this Reuleaux RX200 is a pretty powerful little unit that will max out at 200 watts in standard power mode. I am without Nickel, Titanium or Stainless wire at this time so it is a straight kanthal build consisting of three strands of 28g wrapped in ribbon wire. By no means is it anything fancy but it keeps the resistance nice and low while allowing you to utilize 5 or 6 wraps at 3mm, this for me usually in a dual coil build turns out around the 0.16 to 0.18 ohm range. So when the build is done proper and even, wicked well on top of a great mod in a good atomizer can produce a ton of vapor and ample flavor. Once the build was good to go it went straight atop the RX200 and I soaked the cotton and sat and thought "how beautiful this mod really is" now that I was about to fire it up.
Starting at 50 watts with my 0.16 ohm armor wire build (as I call it) I hit that fire button and took a long haul and was surprised at such a low setting how much vapor it was already producing and flavor to match. It seemed like at this low setting that not near as much coil ramp up time was present and so I hit it again. Pleased with the performance so far I threw caution to the wind and went up to 80 watts, yes a bit of a jump but I have confidence in my work. Up to 80 watts and wow was I already getting a nice indication of how on tap the power of the Reuleaux RX200 was. Haul after haul then pause for redripping I was just loving how well this vape really does perform and I now understand exactly why so many people have purchased the RX200. Just for giggles and what I"ll call "testing" purposes I decided to see how far I would get away with turning up the wattage until it was just too much and I hit around the 150 watt mark before I found it almost unbearable but... very enjoyable!
Testing it in temperature control modes was as to be expected, spot on! I snagged some nickel wire (Ni200) the next day and went to work on a simple set of coils which come to a 0.08 ohm build. When you dial in your preferred wattage and then select a comfortable temperature the Reuleaux RX200 seems to stay right where you"ve set it with no fault or wander, hell you can completely dry your cotton out before switching flavors with no risk so far of even slightly burning the cotton. I am very eager to get my hands on some Titanium and some Stainless wire soon so I can see how well they work in comparison but I feel I will not be disappointed.
Yet another great thing to add to the list of amazing things about the Reuleaux RX200 has to do with the Micro USB port, it is for more than simply just charging! The RX200 is completely upgradeable so as improvements, revisions or firmware fixes are released you can keep your soon to be favorite vape device up to date with the newest releases and upgrades.
To me this is a huge plus as there have already been an abundance of upgrades released is the short time the RX200 has been on the market, way to go WISMEC. All upgrades are available right on their webpage at www.wismec.com. Even just after a few days of use I would HIGHLY recommend this Vape device to anyone and everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are fairly new into vaping or if you are an vapor aficionado, this little chunky vape will satisfy your every vapor need with all its various modes and especially at Wake and Vapes amazing low price of $49.95 USD! This has very quickly become one of my favorite vaporizers and for the first time in many months have I given my IPV3Li a rest and I might even go as far as to say I enjoy this Reuleaux RX200 so much the others may even collect some dust. Make sure you get your Reuleaux RX200 soon and you will not be disappointed and do remember, every order over $50 gets one of Wake and Vape"s new Artistic Vape Box.
